Shake the Disease: Belly Dance class for patients with sickle cell and clinicians

  • June 19, 2017 • 6 PM
  • The American Red Cross, 4050 Lindell Boulevard

The Division of Hematology is partnering with the American Red Cross to offer a Belly Dance class and introduce patients and clinicians to low-impact exercise that is easy on the joints. The dance not only increases flexibility, range of motion, and core strength, it also was featured at a national Sickle Cell event.

Classes will be held at 6:00pm on Mondays in June and July. See flyer for details.

Cost:

  • $10 / session for employees of American Red Cross, Washington University, or Barnes Jewish Hospital
  • Free for patients with sickle cell disease and caregivers

Proceeds go to the Charles Drew program, which finds blood for hard-to-match African American recipients. The program is named after Charles Drew, a medical doctor and surgeon remembered as the inventor of the blood bank.
