Goals

Year 1


  1. Conduct population assessments to understand employee perceived health needs and population health status.
    • Aiming to engage 5,000 employees in WebMD biometric screenings and health assessment
    • Analyze data from employee wellness survey and schedule focus groups to discuss findings
    • Review health plan data to understand high-cost claims trends and identify opportunities to address modifiable risk factors
  2. Establish a university-wide wellness champions network to help drive engagement and provide ongoing feedback about program design and implementation.
  3. Scale up interventions to promote physical activity, provide dedicated fitness space for employees on each campus and work with local and national gyms to enhance employee discounts.

Year 2


  1. Establish a comprehensive campaign to address employee emotional wellbeing.
    • Promote resources offered through e4Health (EAP)
    • Offer educational seminars and experiential workshops where employees can develop positive coping strategies
    • Train wellness champions and other university leaders to understand signs/symptoms of depression and anxiety and provide skills to refer a coworker for help
  2. Establish a comprehensive campaign to encourage employees to complete risk-appropriate screenings.
    • Encourage employees to establish a relationship with a primary care physician
  3. Establish formal referral system for employees with a health condition who are participating in the WebMD health coaching program and would benefit from case/disease management from United Healthcare (and vice versa).
  4. Collaborate with benefits and retirement experts to promote educational seminars and online resources to help employees reduce stress and improve financial wellbeing.

Year 3


  1. Cultivate an environment where employees are informed of the elements of a healthy diet and can easily access healthy food options on and off campus.
    • Connect high-risk individual with nutrition professionals for meal planning and dietary support;
    • Offer educational workshops on healthy eating topics
    • Promote consumption of locally-grown foods through farmers markets or community farm alliance.
    • Collaborate with Dining Services and wellness champions to reduce soda consumption on campus.
  2. Collaborate with benefits and retirement experts to promote educational seminars and online resources to help employees reduce stress and improve financial wellbeing.
